§ 14-5. Pens and enclosures.

  • No fowl, poultry or pigs shall be kept or maintained on residential property zoned LDR, MOR, MER or HDR, provided, however, nothing shall prohibit keeping or maintaining domesticated pets within a residential dwelling, provided such domesticated pets are confined to such residential dwelling and do not constitute a health hazard. No poultry, fowl, pig pen or other animal enclosure shall be situated or maintained within 25 feet of any neighboring residential dwelling. Such pens or enclosures must be kept free from odors, fly breeding and other offensive or unhealthy conditions and all food used for poultry, fowl, pigs or other animals shall be kept in suitable containers with tightfitting covers inaccessible to rats and other varmints. Commercial fowl, poultry or pig raising establishments shall be subject to those rules as are consistent with the city land development and zoning regulation and county, state and federal laws related to such enterprises.
