§ 26-31. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Alarm systems means any equipment, mechanical or electrical, which is arranged to signal the occurrence of illegal entry or other activity requiring urgent attention and to which the police department is expected to respond.

    Alarm user means any person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company, or organization of any kind in control of any building, structure or facility or portion thereof wherein an alarm system is maintained or used.

    False alarm means an alarm signal calling for a response by the police department when a situation requiring a response by the police department does not in fact exist, but this definition does not include an alarm signal caused by unusually violent conditions of nature.
