§ 2-51. Term; duties upon leaving office.

  • (a)

    The mayor shall serve for a term as provided in the Charter, article III, section 9B. If for some reason the mayor shall not be able to complete his term in office, the office of mayor shall be filled for the incompleted term in accordance with Charter, article III, section 15C.2.

    (b)

    Whenever a person has been elected and taken the oath of office of mayor, he shall be required, on termination of his term of office, to present to the city council, at the last regular meeting before expiration of his term of office, a final accounting of any funds, books, records, or any other matters or items belonging to the city which he had possession of as a result of such office. The council shall, if all is in order, approve the final accounting, thus allowing the person next assuming the office to be in a position of being fully aware of the obligations which that person shall assume.
