§ 2-169. Disposal of abandoned property by the police department.

(a)

The police chief is authorized to utilize the procedures outlined in F.S. § 705.101 et seq. concerning the disposal of abandoned property.

(b)

All provisions as set forth in F.S. § 705.101 et seq. concerning abandoned property are hereby adopted and incorporated by reference.

(c)

If, at the end of the notice period as provided for in F.S. § 705.103, the owner or any person interested in an abandoned article has not claimed such article or shown reasonable cause for failure to do so, then the police chief is directed to either salvage the article should the article be of nominal value or sell the article should in the opinion of the police chief the sale of the article be warranted.
