§ 2-240. Appointment and qualification of officers; removal and organization.

  • (a)

    Special master appointments shall be made by the mayor and city council on the basis of experience and interest in code compliance.

    (b)

    The mayor and city council shall appoint as many special masters as are deemed necessary. Appointments shall be made for a term of one year and any reappointments are at the discretion of the mayor and city council. There shall be no limit on the number of reappointments that may be given to any special master provided, however, that a determination as to removal or reappointment must be made for each hearing officer at the end of each of his/her one-year terms. The mayor or city council shall have the authority to remove special masters with or without cause. Appointments to fill any vacancy shall be for the remainder of the unexpired term.

    (c)

    Special masters shall be shall compensated by the code compliance department budget at the rate determined by the mayor and city council.
