§ 14-38. Rabies vaccination.

Latest version.
  • Every person who owns and harbors any dog or cat four months of age or older in the city limits shall have the dog or cat vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian. Evidence of vaccination shall consist of a county certificate, signed by the licensed veterinarian administering the vaccine. However, no dog or cat need be vaccinated for rabies where a licensed veterinarian has examined the dog or cat and certified that at that time vaccination would endanger the animal's health because of its age, infirmity, debility, or some other physiological consideration; and the certificate is presented to the enforcing agency of the county or the city within five days of such examination. The certificate shall not be valid for more than 12 months from the date of issuance.
