§ 2-252. Polling place; compilation of votes and certification of results.

  • (a)

    The city polling place, where the qualified voters of the city may cast their ballots in secret in all elections, shall be as established by the county.

    (b)

    The city clerk shall cause the polling place to be opened, and the devices used in balloting, as are approved and used by the county, shall be provided for the use of the qualified electors of the city.

    (c)

    After the closing of the elections, the city clerk, under the supervision of the clerks and inspectors of election and in the presence of one police officer and those watchers, if any, designated by the several candidates, shall cause a compilation of the votes registered on the devices to be made therefor. The compilation shall be presented to the board of elections with a tally of all properly submitted absentee ballots. After certification by the board of elections, the tally and compilation shall be the official result of the election after presentation to the council.
